Community Baby Shower: A Day of Impact

In News, Services

On April 11th, the Sonny Hill Community Center in Middletown was filled with connection and support as families gathered for a Community Baby Shower designed to uplift parents and caregivers across the region.

The event drew an estimated 200+ attendees, including pregnant women, parents with infants and young children, grandparents, partners, and extended family members. It created a welcoming space where families could access resources, share experiences, and feel supported.

Community Health Alliance was proud to be part of the day. Kendra Hall, LSW, Director of Early Childhood and Prevention Services, along with team member Nikki, connected with attendees at their vendor table, sharing information about the Perinatal Program and additional services available through Sojourner and the Transitional Living Center (TLC). Nikki also helped ensure access by transporting two MAMA’s program clients to and from the event so they could fully participate.

Attendees received backpacks filled with essential baby items, lunch, raffle entries, and helpful resources from community providers. For those who attended with support from our team, the impact was immediate—they shared that they had a great time and appreciated the opportunity to be there.

Events like the Community Baby Shower do more than provide supplies—they connect families to care, reduce isolation, and reinforce that support is available. That support continues through strong community partnerships. Christine Birhanzl, Director of Recovery Services and Peer Support, shared that Butler County United Way is hosting a “Day of Action – Community Baby Shower Care Packages” on June 24, 2026, focused on assembling essential care packages for the Sojourner Perinatal Program, which supports pregnant and postpartum women navigating substance use and recovery.

That event will take place from 4:00–6:00 PM at Butler County United Way in Hamilton and invites community members to contribute items like diapers, wipes, clothing, and other baby essentials or participate in assembling care packages.

Moments like this are a reminder of what it looks like when a community shows up for families—practically, personally, and with purpose.
