Family Wellness Day is a powerful reminder that mental and physical health go hand in hand — and that families thrive when they have access to support, resources, and community connection.
On January 24th, Dayton Public Schools hosted Family Wellness Day, a free event open to DPS students and families. The day was dedicated to whole-person wellness and featured a wide range of activities, including a free self-care lab, yoga classes, speaker sessions, prizes, giveaways, and more. Sponsored by Charlie Health, the event created a welcoming space for families to learn, engage, and prioritize their well-being together.
The vendor area reflected that same holistic focus. Organizations from across the community came together, including mental health providers, agencies supporting physical health, and other essential community services. The event offered families the opportunity to explore resources that strengthen wellness in every area of life.
Community Health Alliance was proud to participate through our Crisis Hotline team, led by Shane Joseph, Crisis Hotline Director. Our table focused on sharing information about the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, as well as our Mobile Response and Stabilization Services (MRSS). Many attendees stopped by with questions and curiosity about how 988 works and what local support is available for youth and families experiencing a mental health crisis.
The impact of the day was clear. As Carrie Farley of Dayton Public Schools shared, “Because of your support, we were able to serve 164 families, connecting them with vital wellness, mental health, and community resources. Your presence truly made a difference for students and families who needed access, information, and encouragement in one place.”
Events like Family Wellness Day play an important role in building awareness, reducing stigma, and helping families understand that support is available long before a situation becomes overwhelming. Community Health Alliance is committed to being part of these conversations and ensuring that individuals know where to turn when they need help.
Through services like our Crisis Hotline, crisis response partnerships, and ongoing behavioral health support, we are honored to stand alongside schools, families, and community partners in promoting wellness and safety.
We are grateful to Dayton Public Schools for hosting such an impactful day and for creating space where families can connect with resources, learn together, and build a healthier future.
