Overdose Awareness Day was a time for connection, healing, and hope across Butler County. Whether individuals had been personally impacted or came simply to show support, their presence made a real difference. Together, we remembered, we healed, and we strengthened our community.
In Middletown, events were held on Monday, August 25. A community resource fair at Smith Park from 11 AM to 2 PM brought together organizations and partners offering information, services, and encouragement. Later that evening, from 6 to 8 PM, the park was again filled with reflection and remembrance, honoring lives lost and supporting those still affected.

On Thursday, August 28, Hamilton came together to mark the day. The New Life Mission hosted a resource fair from 11 AM to 2 PM, connecting residents with vital services and support networks. That evening, a moving remembrance event was held at our Dayton Street Sojourner Recovery Services, where stories were shared, memories honored, and hope reaffirmed. Individuals could also sign a large purple ribbon as well as provide individual’s names online for us to transfer if they could not make it in person.

We are grateful to our partners, including the Butler County General Health District, for standing alongside us to make these moments possible. Most of all, we are grateful to the community members who showed up—in grief, in solidarity, and in hope for a stronger, healthier future.
