Stories of a Journey - A New Way

In News

Sojourner Recovery Services has helped many individuals find their way to lasting recovery. In
our Stories of a Journey series, one client shared his powerful experience.

He recalls overdosing about 15 times and being in and out of hospitals. Eventually, he said, he
became “tired of being sick and tired. Tired of being homeless, tired of not having anything, tired
of being an addict, tired of not having a sense of self.”

Sojourner became a place of solace, a turning point. It brought peace into his life and connected
him with others on the same path. “They laid the stepping stones for me to do what I needed to
do,” he shared.

“Seeing them do it made it easier for me.”
Today, he’s been clean for over a year. “I got a car after seven months of being clean, I’m about
to start training to be a manager at my job, and relationships are better.”
“I can actually be a human being now, not under the control of the substance.”
